has enjoyed an outsize positive reputation in urban planning circles for its transformation from one of the world’s most dangerous cities to one of the safest. In 2019, I moved there with my wife and six month old son to work on our  manuscripts. I completed some research for my research project into Self-help Housing and explored a unique urban condition that continues to inspire and inform current projects.
