From 2022 to 2024, I served as the inaugural critic-in-residence in architecture at Places Journal, which publishes public scholarship on architecture, landscape, and urbanism. My quartet of essays focuses on housing justice and urban design: “Land Power” explores the community land trust as a form of housing activism; “Mass Support,” revisits the work of housing theorist John Habraken; “Housing Agency,” examines the legacy of anarchist architect John F. C. Turner; and “Justice Supply,” argues for a mass social housing movement in the United States.
