CROSS SECTION OF EQUITY
Cross Section of Equity is a four-screen video installation commissioned to introduce visitors to the exhibition By The People: Designing a Better America . Curated by Cynthia E. Smith, with exhibit design by Moorhead & Moorhead and Tsang Seymour, the exhibit is the third installment in the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum’s Design for the Other 90% series.
To illuminate a series of small-scale attempts to build and distribute equity in conditions of widening inequality, this video installation counterposes a series of day-in-the-life portraits of individuals in urban, suburban, post-industrial, and rural contexts throughout the state of Ohio with a selective history of government responses to and drivers of poverty in the United States.
